Zero Discrimination Day

UN first celebrated Zero Discrimination Day on March 1, 2014, claiming the right of everyone to live a full and productive life with dignity. The symbol for Zero Discrimination Day is a butterfly, and which is liked, appreciated and used by many to share their stories.

 

World Civil Defense Day

World Civil Defense Day was instituted by the International Civil Defense Organization in 1990 as it is the day when the ICDO Constitution came into force in 1972. The day is observed to pay tribute to the efforts, sacrifices and accomplishments of all the national services for providing public protection from natural and other disasters.

Read Across America Day

Today a reader, tomorrow a leader, a quote is enough to validate the value of reading. Read Across America Day is a day to celebrate the joy and love for reading. The day was established by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998 with the aim to bring awareness to the importance of reading in education. The day is a tribute to children’s book author Dr. Seuss on his birthday.

World Wildlife Day

Each species is a master piece but if it is gone once, it is gone forever. The day messages us to celebrate the beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora. This year’s theme “Forests and Livelihoods: sustaining People and Planet“, is a way to emphasize the vital role of forests as wildlife, which is a key pillar of human livelihood and essential to balance ecological system.

 

World Hearing Day

Hearing, the most vital sense, that connects us to the world focusing on the theme 2021 ‘Hearing care for All’ presents a global call for action to address hearing loss and ear diseases and raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss.

 

National defense Day

National Defense Day is observed with the aim to sensitize young people, to reintegrate the three armed forces and to honor the sacrifices made by defense personals.

National Safety Day

To honor the work of Indian Security Forces, first National Safety Day (NSD) Campaign was launched in 1972 to highlight the importance of safety in all spheres of life. The day has since been organised every year.

 

World Day of Fight against Sexual Exploitation

To create awareness against sexual exploitation, which involves women and children, who suffer in every part of the world, the day is observed every year globally since 2009.

 

Employee Appreciation Day (USA)

First appearing in 1995, it is assumed that Employee Appreciation Day began as a response to Boss’s Day, where the employees were reminded of their importance that they are the reason what makes businesses able to keep their doors open. So, Employee Appreciation Day is an easy way to make every employee feel special.

It is the day to celebrate our dentists/orthodontists who keep our choppers chomping, our gnashers gnashing, and our whites pearly. Dentists are doctors who specialize in oral health. Generic Medicine Day is observed every year on March 07 and started in 2019.The day provides impetus for the use of generic medicines. Generics are essential since they are necessarily less-expensive choices to their brand name equivalents; the purpose is to create awareness about the use of generic medicines.

Mother, sisters, wives, girlfriends… Have you ever thought what we would ever do without them? Women’s Day with the  theme ‘Choose to Challenge’ is all about rejoicing these incredible people of our life. It is not about a day only, show them every day how much we love, respect and value them. IWD sees a number of MISSIONS in 2021 as challenge brings change. After women achieved suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, the day March, 8 got its significance and later in 1977 United Nations began celebrating the day.

No Smoking Day

cigarettes are highly addictive and harmful to the person who smokes and as well as the people around them. Only a few know that health warnings first appeared on U.S. tobacco and cigarette packaging and the day started out first in 1984 in the UK to bring awareness to the dangers of this addiction

CISF Raising Day (India)

Every year, the Central Industrial Security Force Raising Day is celebrated on March 10. It plays a vital role in providing a safeguard to sensitive government buildings, Delhi Metro, aerospace and other government services. CISF was established on 10 March 1969.

World Kidney Day

Kidney Day was first celebrated in 2006 asking the above question – Are Your Kidneys Ok? Focusing, that there is a great need to  reduce the impact of kidney disease. The World Kidney Day is a global Campaign aims to educate the world about the importance of kidney to tell the world about it s importance and reduce the impact of kidney disease.

Pi Day

Pi Day/International Day of Mathematics, Pi is one of the most well-known mathematical constant values written in the Greek letter “π,” used since 1988 and represents the ratio of a circumference of a circle to its diameter. (written as 3.14 or 3/14) celebrates the long history of this fantastic number.

 

International Day of Action for Rivers

Beloved untamed, sparkling, breezy and so many words to describe river. March 14 is observed annually as International Day of Action for Rivers as it’s Brazil’s Day of Action Against Large Dams. This observance was initiated in 1998 by International Rivers, an organization located in California, USA with the aim to raise public awareness of destructive water development projects and management of the watersheds.

World Consumer Rights Day

Consumers International has announced the theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2021 ‘Tackling Plastic Pollution.’ The day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, addressing issues related to consumer rights.

National Vaccination Day

How anyone can overlook this year of vaccination when WHO is working with partners around the world to accelerate every step to save the world from Corona. India observes this Day every year on 16th March as National Immunization Day too to convey the importance of vaccination to the people of the country. The first dose of an oral vaccine against polio was given in India in 1995.

 

Freedom of Information Day

March 16th is the birth date of James Madison, the 4th president of the USA who is known as the “Father of the Constitution, celebrates and recognizes a valuable concept in the American Bill of Rights. Freedom of information and individual rights was very important to James Madison and it was passed into a law in 1966.

Ordnance Factories Day

The production in India’s oldest Ordnance Factory, which is in Kolkata, started on 18th of March, 1802. OFB is the 2nd largest defense equipment manufacturer in the Asia and first in India. The celebration is conducted by displaying the rifles, guns, ammunition etc. in exhibitions.

World Sleep Day

World Sparrow Day

The melody of “Dawn chorus” Since our childhood, our mother has told us the stories of sparrows, and many of us woke up for years with that melody. The World Sparrow Day is celebrated to spread awareness about birds specifically the house sparrow and other such birds, as they are affected a lot because of urban environments and pollution.

 

French Language Day

French Language Day is on March 20 which celebrates French culture, language and history. Do you know when most people think of French, they think of France, but it’s actually Africa which has the maximum French speakers. The U.N. has chosen March 20 for French Language Day in honor of the creation of the International Organization of La Francophonie.

 

World oral health day

‘Say cheese’ commonly used phrase appropriate to use for this day. It was first declared in 2007 to spread messages about good oral hygiene practices for everyone with the theme, which is declared for the next three years and sends out a simple but powerful message: Be Proud of Your Mouth. In other words, value it and take care of it.

World Forestry Day

Millions of poets were inspired by them, and writers used it as the soul of writing. We’re talking about forests, an entire complex, and a living community. The day is celebrated around the world to ring a bell among the society about the importance of forests and to save them. It originated in the European Confederation of Agriculture in 1971.

World Down Syndrome Day

The global awareness initiative that has been backed by the United Nations since 2012 exists in all regions across the globe, signifies the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome that occurs when an individual has an extra partial (or whole) copy of chromosome 21. Let’s get people talking about WDSD on 21 March 2021!

 

World Poetry Day

Rhythm, Beauty, Emotions: Poetry which inspires others can change the way people view the world and create harmony which tunes the tone of life. The day was declared by UNESCO in 1999 to celebrate it with the aim to appreciate sentiments, poets, and their work and to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression.

 

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, UNESCO calls on all its Member States and partners to step up their efforts to build a more inclusive, more giving and fairer world. The day is to remember on 21 March as on this day in 1960, the police in South Africa opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration.

World Water Day

Water, the driving force of nature, and nothing can replace it. Water is such a precious commodity that many of us take for granted. World Water Day 2021 is a time with the  theme #water2me,  to reflect about those people and places where water scarcity is still paramount, and it is essential to work together to find a solution to the water crisis. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in 1993 to observe each year World Day for Water on March 23.

World Meteorological Day

World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23rd March in commemoration of the date in 1950 when it came into existence. It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of the wellbeing of society. The 2021 theme is   The Ocean, Our climate and weather.

World Tuberculosis (TB) Day

Tuberculosis, serious disease of the lungs which cause severe coughing, and night sweats which in turn can be fatal if not treated in time. The World Tuberculosis (TB) Day is commemorated on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating consequences of TB. The theme ‘The Clock is Ticking’ conveys the message that the world is running out of time to act to control it.

Earth Hour

An hour for our future. Be Honest: Can you imagine life without electricity? Our cell phone, our TV, computer, our refrigerator or elevator has become an essential part of our day-to-day life. The Initiative was taken by WWF and partners as a symbolic lights-out event in 2007. Earth Hour is a movement for the environment held every year, engaging millions of people by switching off their lights to show support for our planet at 8:30 pm to raise awareness of the issues facing our planet.

Since 1962, World Theater Day has been created and celebrated to pay tribute to this incredible form of recreation and entertainment. The day is celebrated by ITI Cooperating Members, theatre professionals, theatre universities and theatre lovers all over the world on the 27th of March to bring to light the importance of theatre, a strong form of art of expression, a culture.
